Introduction
Held under the patronage of HE Eng. Ahmad Al-Hemaidi, the Minister of Environment, State of Qatar, the Forum is being organized by the Gulf Organization for Industrial Consulting (GOIC) and The Ministry of Environment , in collaboration with Gulf Standardization Organization (GSO), and GULFMET to promote the exchange of experience among executives, experts, specialists and technical personnel, who are directly related to the field of metrology.
The first Gulf Metrology Forum is being organized as a response to the latest international development in metrology, with an effort to align Gulf metrology policies and regulations with global developments in measurement techniques and their application for industry.
The event aims to:
- Promote exchange of best practices, implementation of metrology, measurement policies and instrumentation in industrial development
- Assess the needs of companies operating in Gulf region for metrology services and calibration laboratories
- Explore the developments in measurement techniques and their application for industry
- Analyze national capacity-building mechanisms in industrial and legal metrology
- Realize the added value of measurement for improvement of industrial processes
- Discuss projects and opportunities for metrology and calibration labs development
- Present international case studies in metrology infrastructure development for the manufacturing sector including industrial quality development in the GCC states
- Exhibit the role of National Metrology Institutes (NMI’s) and Designated Institutes (DI's)
- Discuss experiences of GCC countries’ support services in metrology and calibration laboratory development in addition to the impact of competition from foreign laboratories
In parallel with the Forum, training workshops and discussion panels on various topics will be organized, with key note presentations by distinguished speakers, along with presentation of selected papers.
